A simple, earnest young boy who knows nothing but hard work. A spirited girl named Jeom-soon who has fallen for him. She offers him a potato with all the sincerity her heart can muster — but the oblivious boy turns it down flat.
Stung by rejection, Jeom-soon sets her rooster Tuntuni on the boy's beloved hen Kkokko. What follows is a barnyard feud, a boy desperately feeding his chicken red pepper paste, and two young hearts stumbling toward something neither quite has words for yet.
Based on Kim Yu-jeong's beloved 1936 short story — a masterpiece of Korean rural literature — this production transforms the classic tale into a vibrant music-theatre experience alive with traditional rhythms, folk songs, and slapstick joy.
Dynamic Traditional Rhythms
Performers move and speak in sync with traditional Korean jangdan beats, creating an electrifying musical-theatre energy that has audiences swaying along.
Regional Folk Songs
Milyang Arirang, Jeongseon Arirang, Sangju Arirang, and Han Obaengnyeon weave through the story, voicing each character's deepest feelings.
Slapstick & Audience Play
Chicken choreography, jangdan hand-clapping lessons, Kim Yu-jeong trivia, and crowd call-and-response make every performance an unforgettable shared event.
